REPORT BY: Bryan Shutt (Leicester, UK) Soshunguve is about an hour north of Johannesburg, the home of Sam and Elizabeth Mashabela and "Christian Fellowship Centre". Sam and his people had begun a building project sometime previously but finances had all but dried up. On behalf of ministries without borders, Bryan Shutt (Leicester, UK) and Geoff Grice (Southport, UK) went out to assess what would be needed to complete the work. At "without borders ’06", the annual conference for churches within the UK, people gave a generous offering for a home–based project. Early the next day, at 3:00am, Keri Jones awoke sobbing and the Lord told Keri to give the offering to Sam Mashabela. When Keri looked at the figures prepared by Geoff he was amazed to see that the exact amount taken in the offering for the home base was the amount needed for Sam’s project. Keri shared his story with the people gathered; of how he had been awoken in the night and that God had asked of him to give the offering to Sam, and he asked the gathered church to release the offering to Sam and his people in Soshanguve. All responded with gladness of heart and preparations were set in motion for the completion of their building project.
Bryan and Geoff were commissioned to help Sam see the project through to completion and they went to Soshanguve to see Sam. On arrival they played a short film, showing Keri and his releasing the offering to Sam. Tears of joy overwhelmed Sam and his people as they gave thanks to God for his miraculous provision in making the impossible possible for them.
"Sam, wow what can you say about Sam. Sam would say, 'sipele', that was his catchphrase which means ‘it is well’ - ‘things are good' and that would be Sam. He always has a positive confession, always bright, always cheerful, he’s a man totally devoted to God, totally trusting God for a future when all things seemed impossible in terms of what he hoped of and what he dreamed of. He’s a man totally devoted to God and I think he’s a wonderful man." Bryan Shutt By the following Spring the "old was gone and the new had come" and Bryan and Geoff had the privilege of visiting the completed building and leading their first Easter Conference. Sam and his people are thrilled and remain grateful to God and their Kingdom brothers and sisters, for their love and generosity.
