As School of the Word moves to Manchester, its new principal will be David Emmett. David has been an elder in King’s Church Manchester since 1994. A former French teacher, he spent ten years working in Zaire (now Democratic Republic of the Congo), where he met his wife, Philippa.

A gifted and passionate teacher of the Word of God, David has laid a foundation of the Word of God in the lives of thousands of people. His influence is encapsulated in the testimony of Yambalu – a school boy who David led to Christ in Zaire. Under David’s guidance Yambalu grew up in his faith and knowledge of God and today oversees hundreds of churches. Whilst David is characteristically modest about the part he has played, Yambalu sees David as his spiritual father; a clear testimony to the foundation that David’s life and ministry provided.

As principal of School of the Word, David has the opportunity to shape the lives of many more people. Under his leadership, School of the Word will undoubtedly be characterised by increased knowledge, enriched experience and great laughter.
