Between 2006 and 2007, over £210,275 has been invested into the lives of people in the Philippines.

Funding from ministries without borders has enabled a Mission House to be constructed and supported in Manilla - providing a base for the poor and needy in the surrounding community.

Through the workers at the base, locals are helped to restore their dignity in a practical way and the aid offered clearly shows them that there is a God who really cares for them.

The locals live in poor and squalid conditions, many of whom don’t even have beds to sleep in.  Many mothers have died giving birth to their children - a great proportion of which have not survived birth either.  The unsanitary conditions are overwhelming.  Before ministries without borders was able to provide support, there was no answer to the locals cry for help.

Poor Children in the Philippines fetching water
Upon visiting and working in the Philippines, Noralv and Tone Askeland (Bergen, Norway) felt a desperate call to help facilitate change in the area.  They saw the need to build somewhere safe, sanitary and medically equipped for women to deliver their babies and care for them in the early days of birth, as well as housing and caring for orphaned children in the community.

Mission House

The Mission House now hosts a clinic, housing facility and training centre.  The clinic at the base has a maternity ward for woman to deliver their babies in clean, sanitary conditions.  The local hospital provides just one bed between three women, but at the Mission House each mother can deliver her baby in the maternity suite and rest in her very own bed.  Above the maternity ward there is a ward for malnourished children who can be cared for until they are well enough to return home.  Abandoned babies are also housed here where they are loved and cared for until adopted by Christian families. Fifteen staff are employed at the clinic; including midwifes, nurses and caretakers.

"…For me it isn’t just the tallying of money, it’s the going and seeing the miracle that money does and if only I could have taken everyone with me!  We are just the extension of people’s hands and giving back home…" Carol Jones (Cardiff, UK)
The Mission House is regarded as a springboard for reaching out to other nations in Asia.  The base is used for training and equipping people in ministry to take the gospel to the nations and extend God’s Kingdom.  It is a base for helping the poor and needy to find dignity and to understand that God cares for them.

"The people of the Philippines would say thank you so much for changing my life.  The children of the Philippines would say thank you for filling my tummy.  The babies in the Philippines can’t talk but they are sleeping peacefully tonight in clean blankets and clothes which have been distributed, and whole families lives have been changed because of your giving.  Your money has been turned into a mir acle and I say thank you so much.  It’s brought so much joy."  Carol Jones (Cardiff, UK)

A number of programs have been introduced to help these people:
