Thank you, thank you, thank you.....a total of 3000 children from day
care and elementary schools together with some high school students
benefited from school supplies provided through ministries without borders. This is the first step out of poverty for most families - to be able to bring their children to school.
The students all come from partner
churches, minority schools and local needy communities in both Mindoro
and Cavite. Children of all ages and grades must buy their own school
supplies, but many less fortunate families don’t have enough money to pay
for these necessities; consequently many children don’t go to school.
In some of the minority schools, the teachers will use their own money
to help support children from poorer backgrounds. The new school year started at the beginning of June and we recently
went to Mindoro to give out some school supplies in three
different villages. The doubling of rice prices in the last two months
means that this support is even more appreciated by local families.
"We can make a big
difference in these communities." Noralv Askeland
Through the generous support of people around the world the children have benefited from the school supplies - bag, shirts, umbrella/raincoat, lunch box, water container, notebooks, pens/pencils, paper pads, crayons, ruler, scissors and eraser.
