The work of ministries without borders into Cuba began in the summer of 2004 when God opened doors for Keri and Carol Jones to visit the nation.

The word from God was that: ‘He would lead them to the man they were meant to meet’.

After a week visiting many places in Cuba they waited for God to direct their steps and held on to the scripture that: God’s word does not return to Him void.

On the last day of their trip they stepped outside their hotel room and saw a car with a ‘fish’ symbol on it!  An unusual sight in Cuba.  On enquiring as to who owned the car they found themselves meeting a lady who helped them.  She gave them the name and address of the Bishop of the Methodist Church in Cuba and told them that this was the man they needed to see.  Phone calls were made and an appointment was set up to see the Bishop immediately.

Upon meeting one another, Keri and Carol felt an immediate joining of heart to Bishop Ricardo Pereira  and his wife Maritsa.  They asked if there was any way that they could show God’s kindness to them whilst in Cuba.  The Bishop shared how they needed a vehicle and how he had applied for a special permit.  However, his funds had run out for his pastors and their families so the money he had saved for the vehicle had been used to support them instead.  He was now in the position of being granted the permit but he no longer had the funds to pay for a vehicle.

When Keri and Carol heard of this need and the thousands of people that these Godly men and women were seeing saved, they knew that these were the people God had made a way for them to be with.  Through the support of ministries without borders the need was met to:
  • supply a vehicle and
  • support all the pastors and their families for the following year - many of whom were surviving on less than $20 per month.
Since 2004 we have been able to:
  • cover the Bishop’s entire administration costs
  • fully support all their pastors
In addition, many teams of people from the United Kingdom and Canada have been sent to encourage and equip the church.  All have returned with testimonies of the wonderful things that God is doing in Cuba.

Through the generous giving of many, ministries without borders has also been able to send finances which in turn has provided vehicles, clothing, shoes, bicycles, medical and construction supplies and much needed aid for retired pastors and wives.

It is our privilege to be joined with the people of God in Cuba who are daily seeing lives transformed by the Kingdom of God, which truly is the greatest investment on earth.
